Above all else, I am friendly and encouraging, and my main goal as a teacher is to help students gain confidence and motivation.

I believe confidence and motivation are the most important keys to successful language learning. With confidence and motivation, anyone can improve their English language skills.

I encourage students to have fun, make mistakes, and enjoy the journey.

I have a bachelor's degree in Linguistics and Spanish, and am TEFL certified.

I have worked as an online one-to-one English teacher for 4 years, focusing primarily on speaking, but also including reading, listening, and writing skills.

In addition, I have worked as an in-company English conversation teacher in Argentina and Japan, and as an assistant English language teacher in high school in Spain.

Hello! My name is Katharine, but please call me Kay. Originally from Ohio, in the United States, I have lived and worked in both Argentina and Spain before moving to Japan.

I have now been living in Fukuoka, Japan for almost 8 years. I love the city of Fukuoka and enjoy traveling around the beautiful island of Kyushu.

I also speak Spanish and Japanese – so I can help you in Japanese if you would like. I look forward to seeing you in class!
