指導スタイル

私は生徒のニーズを把握し、適切な教材を用い指導を行うことに重点を置いています。

私がセッション中重視していることは、生徒ができるだけ多く話すこと、そしてコミュニケーションを著しく阻害していると感じる単語や文法の誤用を特定することです。特定した後は、生徒が自分でその単語や文法を修正出来るよう導きます。

そうすることで、修正した単語や文法を記憶し、将来その単語や文法を正しく使うことができるようになるからです。

ビジネス経験

For the past four years, I have taught online sessions to people at major I.T. companies. These sessions help students reach their target of being able to communicate effectively in an international team where the majority of communication is done in English.

Before this, I taught business and test English in and around the Tokyo area. This included general business English, presentations, report writing, and MBA case studies.

I also have experience teaching at universities. This included how to give effective presentations and write and reference an academic essay, as well as English communication classes.

Finally, I have experience working within the Japanese junior and senior high school systems, so I have a good knowledge of the amount of grammar and vocabulary most people have learned throughout their school life. I can use this to help guide students to English fluency.

Outside of teaching English, I have experience doing marketing for a chain of sports gyms, promoting I.T. technology events, and working in I.T. support in the early 2000s.

自己紹介

My name is Tom, and I am from the U.K. I have lived in Japan for 20 years—first in Yamaguchi Prefecture, then Fukuoka City, six years in Tokyo, and currently Yonago in Tottori Prefecture.

My hobbies include cycling, walking my dog Joy (a Golden Retriever), hiking, and swimming. I am also interested in old technology and enjoy reading about old computers and video game systems.

I am a friendly person who likes meeting new people and maintaining a positive outlook on life in general.
